THE Delta Hockey Academy is holding a special community initiative that highlights the values of teamwork, resilience, and giving back. On December 11, players will set aside their on-ice rivalries with Rink Kelowna U18 Female to compete in a different way—raising funds for local food banks during a time when many families face financial challenges.
This event underscores the Academy’s commitment to fostering not only strong athletes but also strong community leaders. Players from diverse backgrounds including players of South Asian heritage are coming together to make a meaningful impact. Their efforts reflect the importance of supporting those in need, especially during the holiday season.
Two ways to donate on December 11:
- In Person: Visit participating McDonald’s locations between 4:30 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. to donate to the Surrey Food Bank:
- White Rock: 1780 152nd Street
- South Surrey: 3104 King George Highway
- Cloverdale: 17960 56th Avenue
- Online: Make a donation to the Guru Nanak Food Bank in Delta, (note the fundraising event: Delta Hockey Academy U18 Female). Donations over $20 will receive a tax receipt.
(Scan the QR code or visit the Guru Nanak Food Bank website.)
Every dollar raised will help ensure that families have access to essential food and resources during this critical time of year.
“While these players compete fiercely on the ice, today they’re united in a common goal—helping their neighbors,” said Mark Taylor, Head Coach of the Delta U18 Female Green team. “This initiative is about more than hockey; it’s about community, compassion, and the power of working together.”
After giving back, catch the Delta Female U18 Green Prep team in action. They face their on-ice rivals, the Delta U18 Female Black team, December 12 at 11:45 a.m. at Planet Ice Delta. Follow the game and more updates on the CSSHL website.
