THE City of Delta’s 2025 Budget on Monday received final adoption by Delta Council, outlining a bold plan to invest in community-building programs and much-needed capital projects over the coming year.
The 2025 Budget includes funding for highly anticipated projects like the Winskill Aquatic and Fitness Centre Replacement and field upgrades at Seaquam Secondary and South Delta Secondary, along with targeted funding to enhance services and provide vital infrastructure to support growth in the community.
“The adoption of the 2025 Budget is an important milestone and a moment to reflect on the City’s goals and priorities for the next year,” said Delta Mayor George V. Harvie on Tuesday. “We have a vibrant, growing community, and this budget ensures we are continuing to invest in the things that make Delta such a fantastic place to live. From large capital projects to the daily maintenance of our roads and funding for top-notch recreation programs, there is no shortage of important work in store for 2025. I look forward to seeing this work come to fruition for the benefit of our whole community.”
The 2025 Financial Plan includes funding for facility improvements, updated park infrastructure, new watermains and sewers, bus stop and accessibility enhancements, and roadway improvements.
This includes projects such as:
- 96 Avenue road improvements (116 Street to 120 Street)
- Roof upgrades at the North Delta Recreation Centre
- Playground renewals at Beach Grove and Bell Park
- Scottsdale Sanitary Pump Station upgrades
- Annieville and Cromie Park renewal and upgrades
In addition to capital projects, Budget 2025 maintains the city services residents depend on, while also designating funding for urban reforestation initiatives, geographic information system upgrades, and updated safety equipment for emergency responders. To fund these critical projects, the 2025 Budget sees a property tax increase of 4.75 percent, as well as 2 percent for recreation capital investment.
The adoption of the 2025 Budget followed two phases of engagement with the community, which featured opportunities to provide online feedback, an information campaign including newspaper advertisements and social media posts, and public events like in-person open houses, online information sessions, and Council workshops.
