WESTERN Canada’s largest Canada Day celebration will return to Bill Reid Millennium Amphitheatre on Tuesday, July 1 from 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Presented by Prospera Credit Union, Surrey Canada Day will be headlined by eight-time Juno nominees, The Reklaws, alongside Canadian singer-songwriter, Goldie Boutilier, and Indigenous rock ‘n’ roller, Garret T. Willie. This free full-day celebration will feature an exciting lineup of live music and entertainment across four stages, Indigenous cultural sharing, and family-friendly activities.
“I am thrilled to invite everyone to join us in Cloverdale for what is sure to be the biggest and best Surrey Canada Day yet,” said Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke. “In a time when unity and patriotism are more important than ever, Surrey Canada Day is an opportunity for our community to come together, celebrate our country, and honour the spirit of our nation. I’m especially excited to see Canadian sibling duo, The Reklaws, headlining our event this year. I look forward to celebrating with you all at western Canada’s largest Canada Day celebration.”
Headliners, The Reklaws, are a Canadian sibling duo comprised of Jenna and Stuart Walker. Their debut single “Long Live the Night,” became the theme song for the CFL Thursday Night Football national broadcast in 2018/19. In addition to their eight Juno nominations, they hold nine CCMA Awards, four #1s at Canadian Radio, and over 300 million Global Streams.
Raised on the music of Tammy Wynette and Dolly Parton, Canadian singer-songwriter, Goldie Boutilier’s music is known for its cinematic quality and exploration of tragic romance, glamour, and melancholia. Hailing from Kingcome Inlet off the coast of B.C., Garret T. Willie’s music is what the world has been missing for a while: a contemporary take on hardscrabble blues and the purest and rawest rock ‘n’ roll to follow its teachings thereafter.
Alongside the Main Stage, Surrey Canada Day will feature three additional stages offering something for everyone: Indigenous performers will take the spotlight on the Siam Stage in the Indigenous Village, family-friendly entertainment will be featured on the Family Stage, and dance battles and DJs will bring up the energy on the Community Stage. Attendees can also enjoy amusement rides, food trucks, and a beer garden with a site-wide licence. The event will end with a fireworks show.
This project has been made possible in part by the Government of Canada. The City acknowledges the financial support of the Province of British Columbia.
