ON Monday, May 25 at approximately 12:30 p.m., Maple Ridge RCMP responded to a report of a single motor vehicle incident in the 27400-block of Lougheed Highway.

Officers on scene learned that a vehicle drove over a barrier and down an embankment in the area.

The driver of the vehicle was treated by emergency health services on scene. Despite their best life-saving efforts, the driver of the vehicle was, unfortunately, pronounced deceased.

The investigation is still ongoing, however, initial indication is that this is medical-related incident.

There is no impact to traffic in the area.

No further information will be released at this time, police said.
