FEDERAL NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh was one of the Sikhs who were warned about potential threats against their lives after the June 18, 2023 assassination of Khalistan advocate Hardeep Singh Nijjar in the parking lot of Surrey’s Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara where he served as president.

According to a Toronto Star report on Tuesday, this was revealed at the foreign interference inquiry. The Hogue commission heard about the threat to Jagmeet Singh from a lawyer for a group of Sikh organizations granted standing at the inquiry.

The Star said that Anne McGrath, Singh’s principal secretary, said she could not comment for national security reasons.

She also would not comment when asked whether the threat against Jagmeet Singh is why he now has a security detail.
