Fiji Prime Minister Josaia Bainimarama and wife Maria attend Fiji Day Canada Celebrations

 

F1F2F3F4F5 PM meeting First Naions rep DSC_0084F6F7FIJI Prime Minister Josaia Voreqe “Frank” Bainimarama and his wife, Maria, were guests of honor at the Fiji Day Canada Celebrations 2015 at Surrey’s Newton Athletic Park last weekend. They were warmly greeted by thousands of Fijian ex-pats with a traditional Fijian warrior ritual ceremony. A local First Nations representative also gave the Prime Minister a traditional welcome.  The Bainimaramas were then welcomed with a traditional Fijian Kava ceremony by a group of Fiji warriors. The two-day celebration included a Fiji soccer league tournament and cultural events. Surrey MLAs Sue Hammell, Bruce Ralston, Harry Bains and Marvin Hunt and Surrey MP Jinny Sims were among those who welcomed the Bainimaramas.
