Five youths arrested in stabbing at Vancouver high school game

VANCOUVER Police confirmed to The VOICE on Friday that five youths have been identified and arrested in relation to the fights at the Eric Hamber Secondary game on Monday night.

“These parties have been released to the care of their guardians and the investigation is ongoing,” said Constable Darren Wong.

He added: “Our school liaison officers are working collaboratively with VSB staff to support students and are expected to be in attendance for future games.”

The assault occurred shortly after 9 p.m. on Monday as a game between the Eric Hamber Secondary and Killarney Secondary basketball teams was concluding.

Police believe fights broke out between spectators, resulting in an 18-year-old boy being stabbed in the arm. The stabbing victim was taken to hospital and received medical treatment.
