TRANSLINK will provide free transit to past and present veterans and military personnel on Remembrance Day, in honour of their service and sacrifice.
The following eligible members can present their badge, military ID, Veteran’s Service card, or appear in uniform to receive complimentary transit:
- Veterans
- Active members of the Canadian Armed Forces
- Police, Fire, and BC Ambulance personnel
- Canadian Coast Guard members
- Officers from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans
Eligible riders will not need to tap their Compass Card on Remembrance Day when using the bus or HandyDART. SkyTrain and SeaBus service will be free from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., with one accessible fare gate open at all stations during these hours.
The Royal Canadian Legion will also be distributing poppies by donation at various transit hubs throughout the region.
TransLink encourages customers to use transit when attending Remembrance Day ceremonies throughout Metro Vancouver.
Remembrance Day Service Details (Monday, November 11):
- Regular customers will be subject to holiday fares (1-Zone fare for travel across all zones).
- Bus, SkyTrain, and SeaBus services will follow a Sunday / holiday schedule.
- The West Coast Express will not be operating.
- The TransLink Customer Service Centre, Access Transit Customer Care Office, and Lost Property Office will be closed.
SkyTrain, SeaBus, and buses will observe a moment of silence at 11 a.m. (buses will stop at nearest stop closest to the hour) across the transit system.
Regular weekday service will resume on Tuesday, November 12, with standard fares in effect.
