Gurdeep Shergill, 26, of Delta arrested in relation to extortion shootings in Brampton, Ontario

Surrey Police Service officers tracked down and arrested Shergill

ONTARIO’S Peel Regional Police’s investigators have arrested three individuals in relation to two shooting incidents in Brampton on July 10 and 11, when shots were fired at residences in the area of Rolling Acres Drive. No injuries were reported. The suspects were seen fleeing in a black Chrysler 300, which was later recovered in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on July 13.

Following an extensive investigation, three individuals have now been arrested and charged.

On Friday, September 12, Peel Regional Police members travelled to Surrey, B.C., and arrested Gurdeep Shergill, a 26-year-old man from Delta, B.C., on the strength of a Canada-wide warrant. Shergill was charged with:

  • Discharge firearm with intent (two counts)
  • Extortion

Peel Regional Police extended its appreciation to the Surrey Police Service for their collaboration on this investigation.

SPS said in a press release that on September 7, their frontline members became aware of Shergill’s presence in Surrey. Working in conjunction with Peel Regional Police investigators, SPS frontline members tracked down and arrested Shergill.

Peel Regional Police said that on July 27 Husandeep Singh, a 20-year-old man from Mississauga was arrested and charged with:

  • Discharge firearm with intent
  • Extortion

On August 26, Peel Regional Police members travelled to Winnipeg, Manitoba, and arrested Gurpreet Singh, a 23-year-old man of no fixed address, on the strength of a Canada-wide warrant.  Gurpreet Singh was charged with:

  • Discharge firearm with intent (two counts)
  • Extortion

All three were held pending a bail hearing and attended the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
