SURREY’S Gurdwara Dukh Nivaran Sahib Society inaugurated its Guru Nanak Food Bank at 15299 68th Avenue on Canada Day to keep on serving those in need. The Society has provided more than 74,000 packages of meals and groceries to those in need during this COVID-19 crisis. Narinder Singh, gurdwara president who is the chairman of the bank greeted Surrey MPs Sukh Dhaliwal, Randeep Sarai and Ken Hardie, Labour Minister Harry Bains and Surrey MLA Jinny Sims, among others. The gurdwara also celebrated the 100th birthday of their oldest volunteer Sohan Singh Walia, who is Narinder Singh’s father. Cloverdale-Langley City MP Tamara Jansen’s director of parliamentary affairs, Shanjeelin Dwivedi, presented a Canadian flag to Sohan Singh Walia on her behalf and he promptly wrapped it proudly around himself.
