Highway 99 closed after crash near Whistler (update: highway re-opened)

UPDATE 2:40 P.M.:

The Sea to Sky Whistler RCMP says Highway 99 has now re-opened with alternating traffic.
“Travelers should expect some delays as a result of the road closure. Drivers should also continue to exercise caution when travelling the Sea to Sky corridor today due to mixed snow and rain weather conditions,” said Cpl. Katrina Boehmer, Media Relations Officer with Sea to Sky RCMP.

THE Sea to Sky Whistler RCMP are currently on scene at a collision involving multiple vehicles that occurred on Highway 99 between the Callaghan Valley Road and Brew Creek Road just before 9 a.m. on Wednesday.

“The current weather is contributing to poor road conditions, and due to both the road conditions and Highway 99 being closed in both directions, we are advising people not to travel in the area at this time,” said Cpl. Katrina Boehmer, Media Relations Officer with Sea to Sky RCMP.  “There will be extensive delays until the investigation can be completed and the road can be re-opened.”

The Sea to Sky Whistler RCMP has requested the attendance of the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) Team.  At this time, there is no estimate on when the Highway will re-open, but an update will be provided when one is available, police said.
