THE Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is calling on the public to help further its investigation into the suspicious disappearance of Masood Masjoody.

On the evening of February 2, Burnaby RCMP launched an investigation into the whereabouts of 45-year-old Masood Masjoody after receiving reports from concerned neighbours. Initial investigation by the Burnaby RCMP determined that Masjoody’s disappearance was out of character and that criminality was involved.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) deployed to Burnaby and has assumed conduct of the investigation.

Investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding Masjoody’s disappearance and are calling on those who knew him to come forward. At this time, there are no indications to suggest this incident is linked to gangs or extortions.

“We don’t believe Masood’s disappearance was random,” says Sgt. Freda Fong of IHIT. “We believe there are family and friends with important information who have yet to speak with us and we are asking them to come forward. It is essential for us to have all the information available to establish a fulsome timeline.”
