THE Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is requesting public assistance to further its ongoing investigation into the shooting death of an 18-year-old Surrey man.

On April 26, just after 5 p.m., the Surrey RCMP received numerous calls of a shooting in the area of 176th Street and Abbey Drive.  Frontline officers arrived to find a dead male victim with gunshot wounds.

IHIT took conduct of the investigation and has been working closely with its partners from Surrey RCMP, the Integrated Forensic Identification Services and the B.C. Coroners Service to gather evidence and further the investigation.

Investigators have identified a red Chrysler 300 sedan (see photo) believed to be associated to the shooting.  Anyone with dash cam video and / or cell phone video from the area around the time of the shooting is asked to contact IHIT immediately.

“We believe this was a targeted incident and is linked to the ongoing Lower Mainland gang conflict,” said IHIT Cpl. Frank Jang on Tuesday.

Anyone with information is asked to call the IHIT information line at 1-877-551- IHIT (4448), or email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
