INDIAN nationals, people of Indian origin and friends of India participated in the Indian Independence Day celebrations on Friday (August 15) at the Consulate General of India downtown Vancouver.
CONSUL General Ravi Shankar Aisola in a message said:
“I extend my warm felicitations to the Indian diaspora in Western Canada on the occasion of 68th Independence Day of India. India is an ancient civilization but a young nation. Several generations of Indians have fought for and made supreme sacrifice of their lives for achieving Independence. On this happy occasion, we recall their services and sacrifices with gratitude and resolve to uphold and nourish the hard won freedom. I invite all Indian citizens and Persons of Indian Origin in Western Canada to celebrate this joyous occasion with gaiety and continue to contribute in whatever way they can in making India even stronger and strengthening the cordial relations existing between India and Canada. India is very proud of its diaspora abroad who, with its hard work, dedication and success in all spheres of human activity, has made its motherland very proud.
“A new Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has recently taken over in India with a decisive mandate. There is renewed optimism and widespread exuberance all over about the resurgence of a strong and prosperous India which would continue to play an important role in promoting world peace, prosperity and universal brotherhood, May this happen in the quickest possible time! Jai Hind!”
