IN response to a fentanyl overdose death in Langley, an investigation into the trafficking of fentanyl in the downtown core took place throughout the month of October.
The Langley RCMP Drug Section investigation culminated in the execution of a CDSA (Controlled Drugs and Substances Act) search warrant at a residence in the 21600-block of 56 Avenue. The warrant was executed by Langley Drug Section and Strike Force on October 28.
Officers seized a green rock-like substance believed to be fentanyl in a quantity that would indicate trafficking, another substance believed to be methamphetamine, approximately $22,000 in cash, weapons, and stolen property.
A 47-year-old male from Langley was arrested and the circumstances will be provided to the BC Prosecution Service for their consideration of charges.
The fentanyl seized in this investigation represents upwards of 7,000 lethal doses.
Staff-Sgt. Loi Ly, Langley RCMP Investigative Services Commander, said: “Targeting drug traffickers to protect our community remains a high priority for Langley RCMP Drug Section, especially when it comes to fentanyl and how lethal it could be. These types of investigations require a great deal of time and dedication. This is an example of the exemplary work done by our Drug Section in an effort to keep our community safe.”
