THE longshoremen union ILWU (International Longshore and Warehouse Union) local 502 raised $51,502 for the BC Children’s Hospital, bringing their eight-year total to $294,000.
“It’s an important cause that our membership greatly cares about and fully gets involved,” said a spokesperson.
The Telethon raised a record $21,005,878 this year and the funds help with research and obtain specialized equipment, besides training medical experts. Areas not covered or funded by the government are thus taken care of by the Telethon funds.
