Male driver shoots several times at another driver in New Westminster

NEW Westminster Police are seeking the public’s assistance in an investigation into an assault with a weapon incident.

On Wednesday, October 25 at approximately 12:30 p.m., New Westminster Police received a call from a motorist who said someone had discharged a firearm at his vehicle multiple times.

The driver said that after he crossed into New Westminster over the Patullo Bridge he proceeded onto McBride Boulevard in the 400-block, at which time, a driver of a black, two-door Infiniti shouted at him before pointing a black handgun and shooting numerous times, resulting in a broken passenger side window.

The suspect driver is described as an East Asian male with short hair, white t-shirt and black jacket. The investigation to date has indicated the weapon used may have been a pellet-gun, however, investigators are seeking to identify the suspect to make this determination.

“Using a weapon against another driver in traffic is reaching the heights of irresponsible and reckless behaviour,” said Sgt. Andrew Leaver. “You’re exposing other drivers and families to grave injury or worse. We’re now asking the public to help us in our investigation by passing along any relevant dash-cam footage.”

If you have information or dash-cam footage from October 25 between 12:15 p.m. and 12:45 p.m. in the Patullo Bridge/McBride Boulevard area, you are requested to call 604-525-5411 and ask to speak to the Watch Commander regarding File #23-18029.
