Male shot at Whalley residence in Surrey

SURREY RCMP are investigating a shooting that took place at a residence in Whalley on Thursday morning.

At approximately 8:05 a.m. on December 30, Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a shooting at a residence in the 13900-block of Laurel Drive. Frontline officers attended and located a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The male was transported to the hospital by emergency health services.

Sgt. Elenore Sturko said police said that early indications are that this incident took place among parties known to one another and appears to be targeted. While the shooting placed members of the community at risk, there is no indication of an ongoing threat to public safety.

Multiple officers are in the area looking for the suspect in this shooting. The public is being asked to avoid the area while resources, including the Integrated Police Dog Service, are active.
