Male was stabbed – not shot – in Surrey at 184th Street and 92nd Avenue

SURREY RCMP now say the male who they had earlier reported as having been shot at 184th Street and 92nd Avenue shortly after midnight on Monday (July 27) was actually stabbed.

They said that the shots-fired report has been found to be unsubstantiated and that the injuries to the male have been determined to be consistent with a stabbing rather than a shooting.

RCMP said that officers found a male in the area with significant injuries and he was transported to a regional trauma hospital where he was immediately examined and found to have non-life-threatening, stabbing-related injuries.

Investigators on the scene conducted a thorough examination of the area and were not able to substantiate that there was a shooting in the area.

Based on information gathered until now, investigators are of the belief that this incident does not appear to be a random act, but rather targeted at this young man.

If anyone has information about this incident they are asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers, if they wish to remain anonymous, at 1-800-222-TIPS or www.solvecrime.ca.
