ON Wednesday at approximately 5:50 p.m., Surrey RCMP responded to a report of shots fired in the 15800-block of 80 Avenue.

Police said that initial reports indicate that a group of males shot at another group of males. The apparent victim fled the scene in a vehicle and was located in the 14800-block of Fraser Highway.

The victim was determined to have a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, and was transported to a local area hospital.

Officers are conducting neighborhood canvassing and speaking with witnesses to obtain further information. The investigation is still in its early stages, but Surrey RCMP currently believe that the two groups of males were known to each other and the shooting was targeted.

The victim is well-known to police, and is believed to be involved in the drug trade.
