THIS Canada Day, the historic Vancouver Island logging town of Paldi was once again bustling with activity, as the Paldi Khalsa Diwan Society held the opening ceremony for the new Paldi Historical Museum, which is located on the ground floor of the Paldi Sikh Temple.
Along with the opening of the museum, two books that pay tribute to Paldi were highlighted on the day: Paldi Remembered by Joan Mayo (daughter-in-law of Mayo Singh, the founder of Paldi) and Welcome to Paldi: A Place for Everyone by Harman Singh Pandher.
Those in attendance included former attorney general Wally Oppal, former BC NDP president and minister Moe Sihota, MP Alistair MacGregor, MLA Aman Singh and members of the Sikh Motorcycle Club. Premier David Eby sent congratulations from the Province of British Columbia via a video message.
