VANCOUVER Police have made an arrest and are recommending criminal charges after a fire was lit at City Hall on Friday night.
Officers responded to a 9-1-1 call just after 10 p.m. on Friday, when a man allegedly used an incendiary device to light a fire outside an entrance to Vancouver City Hall, at Cambie Street and West 12th Avenue. The building was closed to the public at the time.
A witness intervened to stop the fire from spreading.
VPD officers responded immediately and arrested the suspect nearby. The 36-year-old is not believed to be a Vancouver resident and the motive for the incident remains under investigation.
