Man arrested following Surrey shooting that injures person

A man is in custody and Surrey Police Service’s (SPS MCU) Major Crime Unit has taken over an overnight investigation into a shooting outside a residence that injured one person in the early morning hours of Sunday, June 28.

At this early stage, the shooting is thought to be targeted, and it is not believed to be extortion related.

At approximately 12:34 a.m. on Sunday, SPS officers were called about a reported shooting outside a residence in the 14500-block of 75 Avenue. SPS frontline officers immediately went to the residence, where they located an adult male who had been struck by gunfire while in his vehicle outside the residence.

Officers applied emergency medical aid until BCEHS paramedics arrived. The victim was transported to hospital with reportedly serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers working in SPS’s Project Assurance initiative were in the area at the time of the shooting and located and stopped a suspect vehicle. One person, an adult male, was arrested without incident. The man remains in SPS custody as the investigation continues and charges have not yet been sworn. SPS’s MCU has taken over the investigation.

Any witnesses, or anyone with information, CCTV, or dashcam footage of the incident or suspicious activity in the area before or after the incident is asked to contact Surrey Police Service’s non-emergency line at 604-599-0502 and quote file number 26-66185 (SP).
