VANCOUVER Police are investigating a stabbing in the downtown core on Wednesday morning, which left one person with serious injuries.

VPD officers responded to Smithe and Beatty streets just before noon after a 9-1-1 caller reported one person was stabbed and a man was chasing people with a knife.

Officers arrested the 46-year-old suspect nearby.

The victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, where he was treated and has since been released.
