A 57-year-old man from Mission sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries after he was the victim of what appears to have been a targeted shooting shortly before 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 21.
Mission RCMP responded to the waterfront area south of Wren Street, where the victim was located inside a houseboat along the bank of the Fraser River. Two suspects fled the scene prior to police arrival and have not been located. No one else was hurt, and there is no indication that the general public is at risk.
The detachment’s Serious Crime Unit has taken over the investigation, and officers are currently working on gathering additional information about the shooting. The Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Service and the Integrated Forensic Identification Services unit are also assisting with the investigation. No description of the suspects is available at this time.
