VANCOUVER Police are investigating a homicide in the Downtown Eastside.

Officers were called to East Cordova and Carrall streets just before 3:30 a.m. on Thursday for a man who had been shot.

Despite attempts by first responders to save his life, the victim died before he could be taken to hospital.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing. It is unknown at this time if the victim and suspect knew each other.

VPD will have additional officers working in the area throughout the day to collect evidence. Anyone with information is asked to call the Vancouver Police Homicide Unit at 604-717-2500.
