Man shot in South Vancouver was reportedly targeted

VANCOUVER Police are investigating a shooting that took place on Wednesday night in Vancouver’s Sunset neighborhood, which sent a man to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The injured man, a 33-year-old Vancouver resident, called police just before 9:45 p.m. to report the shooting in the area of East 53rd Avenue and Sophia Street. VPD officers located the victim and provided medical assistance until BC Ambulance service arrived and transported him to a local hospital, where he remains.

“Our officers are continuing to investigate and gather information,” said Sgt. Aaron Roed on Thursday. “This incident appears to be targeted and we don’t believe there is any threat to public safety.”
