Man shot in Surrey in targeted incident (updated)

A man received serious injuries after being shot in the 13500-block of 105th Avenue of Surrey’s Whalley area at about 8:50 p.m. on Saturday.

On December 23, Surrey RCMP responded to a report of shots fired in that area and found a male suffering from injuries. The victim was transported to hospital.

Police said that initial investigation has revealed that a lone male described as an Asian male, approximately 5′ 10″ tall, 190 lbs, with black hair and brown eyes, was seen fleeing from the scene.

Officers are conducting neighbourhood canvassing and speaking with witnesses to obtain further information. The investigation is still in its early stages, but initial indications are that this is a targeted incident and the involved parties are known to each other. It does not appear to be related to the present ongoing gang conflict, police said on Sunday.

Anyone with more information is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 and quote file # 2017-182646. If they wish to remain anonymous, they should contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or www.solvecrime.ca
