Man stabbed to death in Vancouver’s Gastown

VANCOUVER Police are investigating the city’s first homicide of 2021, which occurred Sunday morning in Gastown.

Police were called to the Gastown Hotel – a single-room occupancy building – around 5:30 a.m. and discovered two people had been stabbed. A 40-year-old from Vancouver died at the scene. The second victim, a 28-year-old from Vancouver, was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

A 48-year-old Vancouver man was arrested nearby and remains in custody.
