ON Wednesday, April 24 just prior to 8:45 a.m., Richmond RCMP received a report of a man allegedly in possession of firearms in a hotel in the 3000-block of St. Edwards Drive.

Richmond RCMP with the assistance of the Integrated Lower Mainland Emergency Response Team (LMD IERT) contained the area. The hotel was evacuated and the surrounding area was cordoned off for public and police safety.

Shortly after 12 p.m., the man was safely taken into custody by LMD IERT.

There is no ongoing risk to the public and the hotel has re-opened to the public, police said.

Richmond RCMP General Investigation Section has conduct of this investigation which remains ongoing.
