MISSISSAUGA: Artists of all disciplines were honoured at the MARTY Awards organized by the Mississauga Arts Council at the Living Arts Centre on May 7.
The 21st Annual MARTY Awards, which encourage a range of artistic talent, saw Hazel McCallion presented with the inaugural Lifetime Achievement in the Arts Award in recognition of her ongoing patronage and support of the arts. The event was also attended by Mayor Bonnie Crombie.
“We are proud that the MARTYS are going strong in their 21st year, keeping up our dedication to celebrating various forms of art,” said Ken Jones, President of the Mississauga Arts Council. “We are especially grateful for the support extended by Madame Hazel McCallion over these years.”
Each MARTY Awards category recognizes an emerging and an established artist. In addition, special awards are presented to individuals who have contributed to the development of art in the city.
