DELTA North MLA Ravi Kahlon on Monday announced five $500 community scholarships for high school students in North Delta’s five secondary schools: Burnsview Secondary, Delview Secondary, North Delta Secondary, Sands Secondary, and Seaquam Secondary.
“I have been helped by so many in my community and this is an opportunity to give back,” said Kahlon. “Young people are our future and my hope is that this investment will help them reach their dreams.”
The community scholarships will be awarded to one student from each of the five high schools who:
* Is an outgoing Grade 12 student at any of the North Delta schools.
* Shows an interest in social justice and democratic ideals.
* Is enrolled in a post-secondary institution.
* Has volunteer experience that aims to create progressive social change, either in the community or at school.
For more information and to apply, students may contact their school counsellors, or contact Kahlon’s community office at 8350 112th Street, Delta, BC V4C 7A2, or call 604-502-5449.
