We’ve got a few exciting presentations coming up over the next week. Wednesday’s Workshop, Freeing Your Character: Script Analysis for Actors with Adele Noronha is up next, followed by a lesson in Song & Dance with Krystal Kiran on Sunday morning, and on Sunday evening we’re presenting Monsoon Talks: Artist Panel Discussion. Our Monsoon Marketplace is open for the entire month of August and the Murals in the Market are also now complete!

Workshop Wednesdays – Aug. 18

So you’ve got the part…now what? Or maybe you were lucky enough to get the script to prep for the audition…what are some ways you, the actor, can make the most out of the blueprint so your character is free to play? This workshop on Aug. 18th with Adele Noronha offers effective techniques to create a dynamic character by leaning into the playwrights’ instincts.

An intimate and honest conversation about the artistic process of the artists involved in the Murals in the Market public art project that has been created this summer, a project in which Monsoon Festival is a community partner with the Punjabi Market Regeneration Collective. Our moderators will lead the conversation and discuss the trials, tribulations, and successes of each artist’s journey!

Panelists: Guntaj Deep Singh, Mustaali Raj & Minahil Bukhari, Diamond Point, Sandeep Johal, and guest curator Jas Lally.

Moderators: Punjabi Market Regeneration Collective’s Creative Director Jag Nagra and Chair Gulzar Nanda.

Monsoon Marketplace – Aug. 1-31

To kick off this year’s digital festival, we launched an online marketplace on our website as a way to support local artists during this time of uncertainty and loss of work. Murals in the Market

Date: All four murals are completed and accessible to the general public for viewing.
Location: Punjabi Market on Main St. between 48th & 51st Ave.

In partnership with Vancouver Mural Festival, Murals in the Market is the Punjabi Market Regeneration Collective’s initiative to help facilitate storytelling along with discussions on racism and discrimination through public art by collaborating with local BIPOC artists to deliver a series of murals in Punjabi Market. Monsoon Festival is proud to be a community partner for this project.
