RICHMOND RCMP announced on Thursday that multiple charges have been laid against a man which resulted in the evacuation of a hotel in April 2024.
On April 24, 2024, just prior to 8:45 a.m., Richmond RCMP received a report of a man allegedly in possession of firearms in a hotel in the 3000-block of St. Edwards Drive.
Shortly after 12 p.m., Richmond RCMP with the assistance of the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team arrested the man without incident.
Richmond RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) subsequently executed a search warrant on the man’s hotel room. Four assault style rifles, one of which was loaded, one loaded handgun, over $2,000 in cash and approximately 800 grams in alleged illicit drugs were seized.
The man was released on a police undertaking with conditions.
Arshdeep Singh Bassi has now been charged with five offences with multiple counts including possession for the purpose of trafficking under the controlled drugs and substances act, as well as unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of a prohibited firearm.
Bassi was arrested and remanded in custody until June 13.
