OneBC Party founded on division, anti-Indigenous racism: NDP

THE NDP on Thursday slammed MLAs Dallas Brodie and Tara Armstrong who it says have launched a new party founded on the harmful politics they’ve engaged in since leaving the BC Conservative Party – and fixated on dividing people.

The NDP noted that Brodie was forced out of the BC Conservative Caucus for a racist stance on residential schools that denied their impacts and mocked survivors. Armstrong’s choice to stand with her on the issue made this a founding ideology for their partnership.

After the Liberal win in the federal election, Brodie stoked western separatism, asking: “Is secession the answer?”

Lately, the 1BC MLAs have been launching new attacks on 2SLGBTQ+ people. Brodie came out against Pride month. Armstrong targeted trans women with conspiracies about a “gender industry.”

“OneBC is a party founded on pitting British Columbians against each other, ” said NDP MLA Sheila Malcolmson. “These MLAs have attacked one group after the next – Indigenous people, LGBTQ+ people. They just want to make people hate each other. It’s the most divisive and harmful politics we’ve seen in B.C. in our lifetimes. That’s not what B.C. is. And it’s not what B.C. needs, when it’s more important than ever to work together.”

  1. What an amazing report on this new Party! . Apparently citizens in BC do have different opinions on residential schools, LGBT plus. SOGI, etc and form a Party to have diversity, freedom of expression, and independent goals! High time we get out from under this NDP Party’s ( and clones) compelled script on the
above named subjects and more. Looking forward to contacting this new OneBC Party. Thanks for letting us know!
