SURREY RCMP is seeking witnesses or anyone with information following multiple fires in the northwest corner of Green Timbers Park.
On Tuesday, July 18, a citizen attended the Surrey RCMP detachment in Guildford to express their concerns regarding a fire that occurred overnight in the park
Frontline officers along with members of the North Community Response Unit attended the park to conduct foot patrols in response to concerns raised. While in the park, they located several small, actively burning fires. Surrey Fire Service was notified, and it attended and extinguished the fires.
The Surrey RCMP Arson Coordinator is working closely with Surrey Fire Service to determine the cause of the fires. Initial observations suggest that the fires were intentionally set; however, further investigation is required, police said.
“Police are looking to speak with anyone who was in the area and may have information that could assist with advancing the ongoing investigation,” said Media Relations Officer Cpl. Vanessa Munn. “We are increasing patrols in the area and encouraging members of our community to be vigilant and report all suspicious activity.”
Anyone with information or video surveillance surrounding Green Timbers Park is asked to call the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502.
