THE NDP hit back at Kevin Falcon on Tuesday pointing out that he has spent his first days as Opposition Leader racking up promises to cancel in-progress projects that are critical for people and the economy:
* Second Surrey Hospital: After initiating the sale of the land where the second Surrey Hospital was to be built, Falcon now opposes the plan to build a state-of-the-art health facility in Cloverdale.
* Massey Tunnel Replacement: After saying the current Massey Tunnel would last “easily another 50 years” when he was transportation minister, Falcon says he will scrap the plan to build a new tunnel.
* Royal BC Museum: After ignoring the deteriorating condition of the museum when he was at the cabinet table, Falcon says he’ll cancel the redevelopment of the Royal BC Museum that is critical to BC’s tourism sector.
BC NDP House Leader Mike Farnworth quipped in the legislature: “I never thought that somebody that was the best buddy of [People’s Party of Canada Leader] Maxime Bernier would suddenly now become the leader of cancel culture.” (Hansard Video)
