A SkyTrain was partially dislodged from the tracks on Monday evening
TRANSLINK said in a statement at 5 a.m. on Tuesday that there will be no SkyTrain service between Columbia and Scott Road stations as maintenance crews are still working to resolve a track issue on the SkyBridge.
Crews have identified a failed switch as the cause of the track issue. This led to a SkyTrain being partially dislodged from the tracks on Monday evening. SkyTrain safety protocols were immediately initiated, and the passengers were safely removed from the train within 10 minutes. Crews have since inspected other switches on the system and ensured they are operating safely with no issues.
Extra bus service is in place between Scott Road and Columbia stations. Customers travelling from Surrey will have to transfer to bus service at Scott Road Station to continue their journey. Customers travelling to Surrey will have to transfer to bus service at Columbia Station to continue their journey.
TransLink says that if you’re commuting to or from Surrey, build extra time into your commute while its crews work to resolve the track issue.
Extra staff are assisting customers at Scott Road and Columbia stations. Service on the Millennium Line, Canada Line, and the Production Way segment of the Expo Line are unaffected.
