Noreen Kassam appointed Deputy Chief Administrative Officer by City of Burnaby

THE City of Burnaby announced on Tuesday the appointment of Noreen Kassam, CGA, CPA, to the role of Deputy Chief Administrative Officer and Chief Financial Officer, effective October 1.

“Noreen has shown tremendous leadership capability and managed the City finances with due care and diligence,” said Leon Gous, Chief Administrative Officer. “I am excited to have her working by my side as we continue to achieve our goals in becoming a world-class city.”

Kassam joined the City in 2014 as Assistant Director, Financial Planning and Capital Equity, and was appointed Director Finance in 2017. She oversees the City’s $536 million operating budget, $294 million capital program, $4.1 billion capital asset portfolio and $1.7 billion in net financial assets. Over her tenure, she has played an instrumental role in obtaining numerous awards for key financial publications for the City of Burnaby.

Kassam is a Chartered Professional Accountant and has over 20 years of experience in local government. She is committed to delivering sustainable financial results and prudent financial stewardship, as well as continuously improving service delivery to the citizens of Burnaby, the City said.
