North Vancouver RCMP investigate fatal single vehicle collision  

NORTH Vancouver RCMP are investigating a fatal collision and are asking witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.

On Friday, December 12 at approximately 10:30 p.m., police received reports of a single-vehicle collision near the intersection of Berkley Avenue and Sechelt Drive. Officers and paramedics located a white BMW 535 that had crashed into a tree.

Despite lifesaving efforts, the driver, a 19-year-old man from North Vancouver, succumbed to his injuries. The passenger of the white BMW was rushed to hospital in serious condition and is expected to survive.

The Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) has been deployed to assist with the investigation. The intersection was closed for several hours but has since reopened.

“Our Traffic Services Team is working to determine the cause of the crash,” said Cpl. Mansoor Sahak, Media Relations Officer for North Vancouver RCMP. “Investigators are looking to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the collision and has not yet spoken to police on scene. If you have dashcam video from the area, we ask that you contact our investigators.”

“Sadly, this incident has had a tragic outcome, and our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased. If you have been impacted by this event and would like to speak with someone, our Victim Services Unit is available at 604-969-7540,” Sahak added.
