NORTH Vancouver RCMP are looking for the public’s assistance in locating a suspect vehicle involved in a hit-and-run.

On May 22 at 12 p.m., police received a report from fire crews advising of a vehicle with severe damage on the Fern Street overpass. Officers attended and spoke with an elderly driver of a silver Honda Civic. It’s alleged the Civic was travelling westbound in the right lane on Mount Seymour Parkway approaching the Fern Street overpass, when another vehicle sideswiped her vehicle, causing it to spin out and jump the median. The Civic came to a rest on the oncoming lanes of the Fern Street overpass.

The elderly driver of the Civic was in shock, but uninjured. The driver that struck the Civic never stopped and continued driving. The Civic was severally damaged and likely not repairable, police said.

“We’re asking anyone who was driving on or near the Fern Street overpass around noon on May 22 with dash cam to come forward,” said Constable Mansoor Sahak, Media Relations Officer for North Vancouver RCMP. “The elderly driver is on a fixed income and we’re hoping to hold the driver responsible for the accident accountable.”

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who knows the identity of the suspect vehicle to call the North Vancouver RCMP at 604-985-1311 and quote file #24-9912.
