North Vancouver RCMP seek witness to indecent act

NORTH Vancouver RCMP are looking to speak with a witness to an indecent act that occurred at Lynn Canyon Park on July 31.

On July 31 at 6 p.m., RCMP officers, while on patrol in Lynn Canyon Park, were alerted by District of North Vancouver Park Rangers that a parkgoer had told them of a man exposing himself to hikers.

As they searched the area, officers received additional reports of a man exposing himself near the 30-foot pool. Shortly thereafter, the officers located and arrested a man matching the description provided by witnesses.

The man, who is in his 30’s and is a resident of Delta, was subsequently released on conditions that included not to attend Lynn Canyon Park.

Contact information for the parkgoer who initially spoke with Park Rangers was not obtained at that time. RCMP are now appealing to that person to come forward and provide information about what they witnessed.

“If you are the person who advised Park Rangers of the indecent act on July 31, we are asking for you to contact North Vancouver RCMP at (604) 985-1311,” said Cpl. Melissa Jongema. Anyone else who witnessed this suspect is also asked to contact police.

Throughout much of the year, North Vancouver RCMP conduct patrols within District of North Vancouver Parks, working in partnership with District Park Rangers, said Jongema.

“Thanks to the witnesses and to the actions of both the Park Rangers and RCMP officers on patrol, the suspect was quickly arrested. We want to reassure the public that RCMP will continue to conduct regular patrols in District of North Vancouver parks throughout summer,” she added.
