It is with deep regret and sorrow that the family announces for the passing of Gurnam Singh Pooni, a devoted father, grandfather, great grandfather and educator, who passed away peacefully on April 19, 2026.
Gurnam Singh Pooni was pre deceased by his wife Parkash Kaur Pooni. He leaves behind his children Darshan Kaur Thandi (late Satpal Singh Thandi), Surinder Kaur Sandhu (Randhir Singh Sandhu, Late Surjit Singh Pooni ( Harinder Kaur Pooni) and Kulvinder Kaur Sarowa (Manjinder Singh Sarowa. He had a legacy of 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Gurnam Singh Pooni left India is 1966 to travel to Chatham, England and then migrated to Victoria, Canada in 1969. In 1970 his family joined him in Victoria and they later relocated to Vancouver in 1974. While living in Vancouver he was a proud member of the Khalsa Diwan Society. He devoted his retirement years to serving at the Ross Street Gurdwara.
Funeral service will be held on Friday May 1 at 1 p.m. at Riverside Funeral Home 7410 Hopcott Road, Delta, BC. Langar to follow at Khalse Diwan Society on Ross Street, Vancouver.
