One man shot and killed, another injured in Lower Mainland Gang Conflict

THE Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called in after a fatal shooting that has resulted in the death of one man, and injuries to a second man.

Burnaby RCMP say it is not yet known where the initial shooting happened, but the vehicle with both victims inside pulled over westbound on Highway 1 in Burnaby near the Kensington exit around 2:30 p.m. after one of the occupants called police.

The surviving victim, who was driving, is believed to have a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

Investigators are working to determine where the shooting happened, and how far the vehicle with both victims inside travelled before the driver pulled over.

It’s believed the shooting is tied to the Lower Mainland Gang Conflict.

A vehicle, believed to be connected to the shooting, was found on fire on Eastlawn Drive in Burnaby.

The westbound Kensington exit from Highway 1 is expected to remain closed for several hours due to the ongoing investigation. Police are currently in the evidence gathering phase.

Homicide investigators are looking for dash-cam video. Anyone traveling west on Highway 1 in Burnaby from around 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. with dash-cam video is being asked to call IHIT.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
