ON Tuesday, October 5, at approximately 9:56 p.m., Surrey RCMP responded to a report of shots fired in the area of the 12200-block of 80 Avenue.

Police located an adult victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite all attempts to revive the individual, the victim succumbed to their injuries.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called in and will be working in partnership with the Surrey RCMP Major Crime Section.

Police are currently in the evidence gathering phase.

Police shut down 122A Street for both northbound and southbound traffic between 80 Avenue and 78 Avenue.

IHIT said on Wednesday morning that the scene is secured and it is looking for witnesses and dashcam.

Later, a burned out pickup was found in Newton. Police have yet to confirm if that was connected to the shooting.
