RIDGE Meadows RCMP are investigating a shooting that took place in Maple Ridge on Saturday afternoon.
On January 20 at approximately 2:40 p.m., Ridge Meadows RCMP frontline officers responded to reports of a shooting in the area of 123 Avenue and 222 Street. Police arrived on scene to find two vehicles that had been involved in a collision.
The driver of one of the vehicles was suffering from gunshot wounds and was taken to hospital by BC Emergency Health Services (BC EHS).
Police also received reports of a vehicle on fire in the 20800-block of 123 Avenue which is believed to be linked to the shooting.
The Ridge Meadows RCMP Investigative Support Team (IST) and Serious Crimes Unit (SCU) also attended the scene and have conduct of the investigation. Police said that 123 Avenue will be closed between 222 Street and Hillside Street for several hours as police continue the investigation.
Police believe this to be a targeted incident and there is no further threat to public safety at this time.
This is currently an active and ongoing investigation and no further information is available at this time.
