ONTARIO’S Peel Regional Police have arrested and charged two men for a carjacking that occurred in the City of Mississauga.
It is alleged that on Friday, November 12 at approximately 5 p.m., the victim attended a fast food restaurant in the area of Brayden Boulevard and Airport Road in Mississauga. The victim exited the store and attended her vehicle.
Shortly after, two suspects approached the victim’s vehicle and a struggle ensued. As this was occurring, numerous citizens intervened and removed the victim’s young child from the rear of the vehicle at which time the suspects fled the area in her vehicle.
The victim was transported to a local hospital to be assessed for her injuries which were considered non-life-threatening. The child was not physically injured.
The Central Robbery Bureau, with the assistance from the Strategic Tactical Enforcement Policing team and the Peel K9 Unit, located and arrested the two suspects with the stolen vehicle near Derry Road East and Rexwood Road in Mississauga.
Hamza Sajid, an 18-year-old man from Brampton, was charged with:
- Robbery
- Wear A disguise
- Assault causing bodily harm
- Breach of recognizance (four counts)
- Possession of a controlled substance (two counts)
Mehkash Sohal, a 19-year-old man from Brampton, was charged with:
- Robbery
- Wear A disguise
- Assault causing bodily harm
- Breach of probation
- Possession of a controlled substance (two counts)
Sohal was also charged by the Central Robbery Bureau for a carjacking that took place in Brampton on Friday, April 30.
Both men were held and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on November 13.
