ONTARIO: Mehkash Sohal, 18, of Brampton arrested and charged in carjacking

ONTARIO’S Peel Regional Police have arrested and charged an 18-year-old man for a carjacking that had occurred in the City of Brampton.

On Friday, April 30, at approximately 6:30 p.m., the victim was unloading groceries from her vehicle in the driveway of her residence located in the area of Chinguacousy Road and Charolais Boulevard in Brampton.

The victim was approached by a man who attempted to engage her in conversation. The man allegedly assaulted the victim and stole the vehicle. The victim was dragged a short distance within the driveway, before falling to the ground. The suspect allegedly reversed the stolen vehicle over the victim’s lawn onto the roadway, and fled the area.

The victim was transported to a local hospital and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Her stolen vehicle was recovered by uniformed officers a short time after the incident took place.

On May 5, investigators from the Central Robbery Bureau charged Mehkash Sohal, an 18-year-old man from Brampton, with one count of robbery.

He was held pending a bail hearing and attended the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on May 5.
