Burnaby hit and run leaves pedestrian with critical injuries

ON Sunday at 8:54 p.m., the Burnaby RCMP responded to a report that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle in the 7400-block of Gilley Avenue. The 68-year-old pedestrian was transported to hospital where he is reported to be in critical condition.

The vehicle that struck the pedestrian did not remain at the scene. The preliminary investigation has revealed that the involved vehicle is likely red in colour and will have damage to the front of it. The vehicle was southbound on Gilley Avenue and the pedestrian was struck near the intersection of Beresford Street. After the pedestrian was struck the vehicle continued southbound on Gilley Avenue without stopping.

The Burnaby RCMP is requesting that anyone who may have witnessed this or has a dashcam video and was in the vicinity of Gilley Avenue and Beresford Street when this occurred to notify the investigators as they may have evidence that could help identify the vehicle involved.
