ON Friday, February 27 at approximately 2 p.m., Ridge Meadows RCMP responded to a report of person being struck by a train in the 22300-block of River Road in Maple Ridge.
Officers attended and confirmed that a male pedestrian was struck by a train in this area. The male was unfortunately pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency services. Ridge Meadows RCMP is working with CPKC Police Service on this investigation.
TransLink said in a statement: “West Coast Express service will be temporarily affected. Trains will travel as far as Port Coquitlam Station and customers will then need to transfer to extra bus service. Buses will service the remaining eastbound West Coast Express stations.”
Just after 9:50 p.m., TransLink announced that the incident had been resolved and normal service was resuming.
